Description
When a 500 internal server error on Kohana is encountered, the default stack trace is not shown, but rather the servers error 500 page.
Could be isolated to PHP FastCGI, needs more testing.

A server 500 error is related to the web server and has nothing to do with Kohana. It's likely an htaccess error.

Unable to reproduce, though much has changed since 2.3.1.
Tested on Linux using Apache 2.2.11, lighttpd 1.4.22, and Cherokee 0.99.22.
